Greetings from rainy Jakarta! sorry for being away for awhile, since I have some problems with my internet connection, and work is still hectic. so while I'm away, here's a little 'hi' from the big Durian City!

Visited Jambi for the first time, I didn't have much time to see things I want to see. But in this very short visit, I could feel like I'm in different era, back in 70's. What a lovely feeling!

Old Town Revisited

Pardon me, I've been busy then fell ill;
so I've been missing my blog so much.. and you all :-)

Anyway, here's a glimpse of Jakarta's old town I've visited recently, not so much changes I've seen,
but the point of view of many, has changed a lot apparently...

Im trying to do HDR to give it a dash of drama, but I guess the effect is too harsh.. don't you think? 

I need to learn to be more subtle..

• one normal exposure, high contrast and unsharp mask,
• one high exposure, gaussian-blurred, transparent
• one low exposure, transparent
• top layer is the copy of the background, transparent, blurred.

  ... and the confusion began...

HDR My Way

[ HDR : High Dynamic Range Photography is a post-processing technique that uses multiple images of the same scene shot at different shutter speeds to combine them all into a single photograph. The result is an image with the most amount of detail in both shadow and bright areas of the image, close to what the human eye would see ]

[ Wikipedia: high-dynamic-range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allow a greater dynamic range of luminancebetween the lightest and darkest areas of an image than current standard digital imaging techniques or photographic methods. This wide dynamic range allows HDR images to more accurately represent the range of intensity levels found in real scenes, ranging from direct sunlight to faint starlight.[1]

The two main sources of HDR imagery are computer renderings and merging of multiple photographs, the latter of which in turn are individually referred to as low-dynamic-range (LDR)[2]or standard-dynamic-range (SDR)[3] photographs 

Yesterday I tried to do HDR photo. And I have to admit that I did it without enough basic knowledge. Basically I took one picture and made three layers out of it, one neutral and another two in higher and lower exposure. I combined all three and gave a little gaussian blur ( all in photoshop  post editing, of course ) and voilà!  Still far from perfect, but will do it better next time :-)
