Going Round The City

Don't ask me where is these or what is that, because I just snapped from the car, from one place to another for work in a rush. I shoot like crazy sometimes, because I know, I won't visit this city as often as I wish.

Grunge

Found this old car in a corner of a house, in Gianyar - Bali.  I'm not an expert on car, but I guess it must be an expensive vehicle on its glorious day. Now neglected, rusted and forgotten, but she's - to me- still beautiful. Even the rust adds some kind of beauty on her body.

 I don't know anything about this car. I just found the sign still intact on the body, written: Sidles - Buick, Lincoln. My guess is that this was purchased around 1940s. Anyone knows about it?

Underground Beauty

Not so common request : roses arranged in an uncommon way, 12m long long-table, and not just one, but two!
Well, the event was not that common either, it's the private launching of a prestigious chameleon car.

Art Deco in Sumedang

In the same compound with Prabu Geusan Ulun Museum Sumedang, Even before we enter the area, standing proud a less old building than the rest of its neighbor a massive structure with complex roofing.

I have no information about this building, when it was built, who's the architect and so forth; only that people call it Gedong Kabupaten ( Regency Office ). It's a typical Indonesian art deco architecture; simple stepped forms and repeating geometrical patterns, married with the traditional style roof and local ornaments (mostly adopted from Hindu temples) as embellishment. You'd see such style also in Bandung, capital of West Java. Gedung Sate, for instance, has the same concept with this building. Anyone can share more info about this?

Anyway, whatever it is, it's a beautiful building.

Tumpak Landep - Get Dressed For The Occasion

It was an occasion where not only the people, but also the vehicles get dressed and ornated with janur - the young coco leaf - in the form of canang ( small offering), tamiang ( shield) and all sort in any colors and delicate crafting. That's when the Balinese people is having the Tumpak Landep ceremony to honor Sang Hyang Pasupati, the Lord of all metal implements. The blessing ceremony is given to heirlooms, weapons and other metal tools (including car) and prayer is held for magical power and proper function, ensuring a trouble-free period for the next seven months. Even offices and shops have this ceremony to bless their vehicles, tools and merchandise.
