Romancing Java

Didi Budiardjo was inspired by Java on his latest collection; Claire de Lune. Like Claude Debussy who was also inspired by Javanese gamelan on his music score, Didi did not literally translate Java as an 'obvious' java traditional costume. He put javanese pleats on a new level, the traditional dance costume and accessories on a new height, and awesomely transformed all into ultra romantic gowns; where some are flowing and dancing, and the other are gracefully formed. Together with the accessories created by Rinaldy A Yunardi, they presented something classy, frenchy, pretty.

For me, Didi Budiardjo is equal to romance.

Foliage by Biyan

There isn't much I can say about Biyan, because his design says it all already. The thing is - that amaze me about him- that he got younger and younger in design every time. It's rich, it's demure, but really light and young at heart. Biyan's design is always stunning without having to jump into your face. Here are some photos of the adorable collection of Biyan. Not much I can share because I was too busy admiring the show :-)

EDBE on Ikat

So EDBE is quite famous for its psychedelic batik; crazy pattern and cutting. But wait till you see its latest collection! EDBE, the labour of love between Eddy Betty and Ms. Ley Sandjaja has grown more mature design in a good sense. I personally love the last sequence where the model wore one long feather on the forehead ( simple and brilliant! designed by the famous accessories designer Rinaldy A Yunardi ) and the color of the collection was dark in natural tones. It's like a tribal chic, a threesome between Yohji, Comme de Garçon and Dries! It's very wearable yet keeping the insanity inside. Now I wrotre like I'm a fashion expert, LOL.
Anyway, If you love edginess, but love ethnic as much, I strongly recommended that you'd have such adorable items like these pieces from EDBE.
