Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta's Lesser Child
Or at least that's what I thought about Gunung Kidul: a poor region, unattractive place to visit. That's before I went there.
Wonosari actually is a beautiful place, lush green unspoiled nature's beauty with original warmth of its people. Just come and see it for yourself. These pictures are just a tip of an iceberg of things you can find there.

Butter and Chocolate
An hour drive up north from the city, I have to bring all the stuffs early morning just to prepare a table set up to Wonosari - Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. But I guess I kinda like the result, and hope you do, too :-)
It's a small display for the new product of Vaseline - Cocoa Butter. so I tried to present it with everything about chocolate: the fruits, seeds, chocolate bars, powder and all. And for the butter, well, I replace it with creamy white roses. Since it was located in a small Javanese village house next to the cacao plantation, the display should ( in my opinion ) incorporated local products: I chose bamboo container, wooden kitchen utensils and raffia mat as display tools. Now tell me what do you think.

Tumpak Landep - Get Dressed For The Occasion
It was an occasion where not only the people, but also the vehicles get dressed and ornated with janur - the young coco leaf - in the form of canang ( small offering), tamiang ( shield) and all sort in any colors and delicate crafting. That's when the Balinese people is having the Tumpak Landep ceremony to honor Sang Hyang Pasupati, the Lord of all metal implements. The blessing ceremony is given to heirlooms, weapons and other metal tools (including car) and prayer is held for magical power and proper function, ensuring a trouble-free period for the next seven months. Even offices and shops have this ceremony to bless their vehicles, tools and merchandise.
