Blue For The Baby Boy

Pardon me for being away for too long.. there are things to be done and I haven't got any decent things to share. But here are some flowers we've done for a family who were about to celebrate the 'aqiqah' of the newborn baby boy, hence the white and blue theme.
Enjoy!

The Lost Haven

Almost secluded, hidden amongst the hustle and bustle of shops and street vendors in Malioboro street, you might never noticed that there's such a beautiful place like this.

Once a book store and publishing named Kolf Bunning, the building of Jogjakarta Public Library is a very beautiful Art Deco, and still well maintained until today. The spiral stair case, the pendant lamps and pillars are so oohh, and aahh.., beautiful and original , you feel like you were in different era once you step in.  So even if you don't feel like reading anything here, do come. And enjoy every beautiful detail from the bygone era.

I Remember Yogyakarta

...and I miss it,
something that feels almost like homesick...

 Shall I compare thee to a summers day?
(Sonnet XIII)
~William Shakespeare

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimmed;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owes;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st;
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Delightful Delicate

Went to an exhibition and saw these two ladies, deeply concentrated working, in a high pace over a complicated work of threads. They said it;s a craft from Koto Gadang, West Sumatra. The call it Sulam Kapalo Peniti ( pin head embroidery ) and Renda Bangku ( stool lace ).  Quite funny when you hear it, no? But when you see it,  you can do nothing but hold your breath. Two old ladies can produce such beautiful and intricate work.
I tried to search the story behind sulam kapalo peniti and renda bangku, but I can't find much. Perhaps you could help.

Twilight Saga Inspired

I was almost burst in laugh when someone wanted to have a wedding based on the set of the movie. But later when I checked, oh well - I think - it's not so bad. And when it's finally made, I can say that the idea wasn't bad at all.
A small ceremony area simply decorated with white flowers hung above and a flower arch perfectly reflect the pureness ( well at least that's what I feel ), and that is, the essence of a wedding, aight?

Vintage Blue

Shabby Chic is always a favorite design. This time we made it in blue for a wedding magazine, Le Marriage. We tried to make it so monochromatic it's almost like a picture that comes out from a delft vase. Using vintage silver, antique cutleries and goblet, faux pearls and paper doilies, with only cream roses and blue hydrangea, we created such an atmosphere.

Just A Dash of Yellow

One of that peculiar wedding, in grayish silver and white that makes it almost sombre... but with a little touch of  yellow (and green) everything turns out just perfect. Wedding nowadays is about personal taste and preference: be different, be daring and be bold!

PS: it's always a great fun to work with mbak Netty :-)

Food Styling

I helped Tabloid Nova for styling the food once in awhile. This time it's about home cooking, an upgrade version of daily menu, so to say. And here's a sneak on what happens in the kitchen.
